Test your skills on our outdoor course, designed to entertain and have fun (not a serious race!). A fun event for all ages to show off or improve skills.

March 15, 2013 7pm – Berrett Hill Switches
Kevin Hunter of Berrett Hill Controls will demonstrate a new line of switch controls and control panels designed locally. If you’re starting a new layout, this is a must see. Take advantage of seeing the demonstration up close and getting answers from the expert.
March 22, 2013 7pm – FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
“Through the Heart of Maryland – A Story About the Hagerstown & Frederick Railway” will be presented. An obscure local but quite important railway is highlighted this month. Light refreshments are served, so it’s a win-win free date night or family outing.

Started in DCC (Digital Command Control)
DCC can be an easy addition or change
to your layout, once you’ve seen it and can talk to an expert.
For those of you who have or are thinking about DCC,
our Guest Instructor will walk you through the basics on wiring, programming and
operating your NCE DCC system. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions
and answers during this informative, yet informal class. All skill levels
welcome.

NEW WORKSHOP offered this year. Learn some of the basics you need to know to keep your vehicle running great. Geared to beginners, learn details and tips about your vehicle for maximum performance.
May 10, 2013 7pm– Getting Started in Outdoor Garden Trains
One of our most popular workshops, we will share the ABC’s of building and maintaining an outdoor garden railroad, no matter the size or space restrictions. From ground preparation, laying track and electronics and maintenance issues, we will answer your questions on this family outdoor hobby. Learn helpful tips on the do’s and don’ts of outdoor layouts and what makes them so much fun. Meet other outdoor train garden enthusiasts and share information on successes and what to avoid.
